Concert Must Haves.

I always used to stress about what to bring to concerts, and would be asking around for ages about what to bring. Now after quite a few shows under my belt, I have a list of my "must have" items for a show. Also, I'm talking about small venue shows, not a show like Warped tour or Bamboozle, that's different.

1. Sharpies
You never know when you're going to catch your favourite artists. It could be at a meet and greet, or just around the venue. They might not be super ready so make sure you will be for them!
2. CD Booklets//anything you want signed thats small.
It's important to keep these things small unless you want to be carrying a backpack or big purse into the pit. Carrying around a big bag all night is also just a pain. You most likely want to take photos with people or your friends and having a giant backpack or purse in the shot may not be that appealing. Another thing to remember is that if you want to bring a CD to get sign, you should only bring the booklet. If anything gets smooshed, its probably going to be your CD cracking.
3. Camera
It doesn't need to be a big fancy Canon 7D DSLR or anything, all you need is something to record your memories with. A cellphone camera works too! Looking back at photos from concerts is one of my favourite things, and having at least one photo from the night is good enough for me.
4. Cellphone
You never know where the night could take you so having a phone just in case is always a good idea.
5. Post-its
Small pieces of paper for signatures for friends who couldn't make it, little doodles for yourself, or making a note to yourself about whatever. Post-its are the b o m b.
6. Closed Toe Shoes.
CRUSHED TOES HURT SO MUCH!! Wear decent shoes. Once I wore not that great shoes to a concert and my feet got stepped on. Not only did it get my shoes all gross, it felt like my toes were getting crushed by a stiletto heel, talk about painful.

Anyways that's pretty much it. Hopefully you liked this post and found it helpful!

Finally! Relief!

I'm finally not sick anymore, well at least the worst is over. Anyways I'm super pumped for this week because I have to crank out my contest entries for 11:11 AM, Adam Elmakias' "Focus on Life", and Panic! at the Disco's FOE contest. Hopefully things go well.

what would be great:

  • a giant gummy bear
  • favourite movies
  • lots and lots of tea [iced and hot]
  • then disneyland
what if that was just like something that would happen on a weekend in the future. that'd be great.

the truth of the matter is...

I just really need to go to a show now. I went to the battle of the bands in my area not too long ago which was fun, but its nothing like going to a concert at a place like the House of Blues or the Glasshouse. The sound system is infinitely better, there is an actual crowd, and the music is great. When the bands have great intros is definitely A+ too. Last November I went to the Fearless Friends SUPER TOUR date, and I have to say Mayday Parade's introduction blew me away. I also loved how they incorporated the intro back into different parts in the set.

Anyways, I will probably never forget my very first concert at the House of Blues in Anaheim for NeverShoutNever! aka Christofer Drew. That concert was INSANE. It was actually sold out and I remember when I got there the line was already super long. The pit was so jam packed and crowded that day that it was kinda painful, but I don't think I could have asked for a better first concert experience. side note: that is not entirely true, my first concert was a Hilary Duff one... but that doesn't count. Finally hearing all the songs that I loved to sing along to at home was amazing, and being there with a bunch of other fans was fantastic. The energy that was surging through the crowd was so exciting and actually seeing Chris was so much better than seeing him through my computer screen. I still remember when he sang bigcitydreams, my favourite song, live. It was such a surreal experience, I just could not believe it.

Live concerts have become a huge part of what I want to do now and each one I attend, regardless of a few different factors like band and audience changing, theres a few things I always love. I love the feeling of togetherness you get from being with a bunch of other fans, singing along to your favourite song with everyone, the energy in the crowd [whether I'm in it or shooting in front or behind it], and just hearing everything live for a change.

Also in addition to all these things I love, I usually hang out with the friends that I never see outside of concerts. Sure I do talk to them about everyday, but we all live more than an hour or so apart, so hanging out is scarce. When we do hang out though, it is just great. SO MANY MEMORIES MADE. I don't know where I would be without my friends, and the time we have to spend together is just so important and sparse.

What are some of your best concert experiences? comment below.

Personally, I cannot wait for my next concert season.

Anybody want to help me?

As an Art Feeds representative, you can check them out here, I have to come up with a fundraiser to help spread awareness and raise funds. I wanted to know if you guys had any creative ideas as for what to do.

Last year I had people write what inspired them on paper and post it on an "inspiration wall". I also sold merch and took donations to the cause.

Thanks so much for any help!
